AFTER HOURS IMAGING

Please call the on call resident to discussed all emergent after hours MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, fluoroscopy, and interventional procedure request. Below are examples of emergency indications:

MRI
Suspected spinal cord tumor
CVA
Spinal trauma
Suspected hip fracture

ULTRASOUND
Absent fetal heart tones on prior exam
Vaginal bleeding in a pregnant patient (after result of serum beta-HCG is known)
Acute scrotal pain or suspected testicular torsion
Acute pelvic pain or suspected ovarian torsion
Suspected cholecystitis (if emergent surgery to follow diagnosis)

NUCLEAR MEDICINE
Active lower GI bleed
Suspected pulmonary embolism
Gall bladder dysfunction (if emergent surgery to follow diagnosis)
Suspected bile leak (if emergent surgery to follow diagnosis)

FLUOROSCOPY
Suspected esophageal rupture (including emergent post-op anastomaosis leak)
Suspected volvulus
Suspected intussusception
Pelvic trauma cystogram
Suspected gastric leak or outlet obstruction

INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY
Active bleeding
Abscess drainage
Without exception, there will be no PICC line placements done after hours.
